Babe Corner is bringing in a new era of Vancouver alt-rock. They’ve kicked down the doors with a melange of sensuous guitar solos, whooping synths, airtight and soaring four-part harmonies and a message of love and panic, longing and satisfaction. Effectively a supergroup of the city’s best nostalgia pop players (with Doohickey Cubicle’s Alli Deleo on keys, Club Sofa’s Jess Jones on drums and Haley Blais on bass) Babe Corner is led by Lindsay Sjoberg, whose melancholy voice and lyrics, reminiscent of Mitski and Angel Olson, charge the group with a melodic pop-punk personality by way of No Doubt and Liz Phair. The band’s debut EP ‘Killer’ was released early 2020 led by single and video Cigarette, shot on location in British Columbia’s Okanagan desert. Today, the EP has been streamed over 1M times on Spotify and with no formal PR or marketing, Babe Corner is breaking clear of the underground to become one of the Vancouver indie music scene’s most exciting secrets in time for their debut LP release in March 2023.
